DVdL: AN EXPERIMENT IN ROTOSCOPE (VIDEO)

AN EXPERIMENT IN ROTOSCOPE

Rotoscope was invented by animator Max Fleisher in the 1910's wherein he would film live action, project it, and draw a character over the image of the person, and then film each of those drawings, thus speeding up animation and reflecting a more realistic image. Later, the term was also used when blocking out the background surrounding an actor in live action or combining live action with animated elements. Here is an rudimentary example of this process done as an experiment using modern technology.
